Ruger 10/22 Project

Monday, December 5th, 2005

This weekend I finished the Ruger 10/22 that I was working on. Taken off the Wal-Mart website, here is a picture of the stock rifle:

Stock Ruger 10-22

The Standard Carbine as shown above can be picked up at your local Wal-Mart for $166.00, which I think is very reasonable for this rifle. They are very fun to shoot and have a TON of aftermarket accessories available for them. My rifle was picked up for less than $150 in a good used condition. By the time the project was complete, the only original parts were the receiver and trigger housing - everything else was replaced.

Initial Woodworking Projects

Friday, December 2nd, 2005

The Woodworking bug has bitten and so I have been spending some relaxing time in the garage lately.  I originally planned to jump right in and make a bunch of stuff for some craft fairs this fall.  However, I decided that would be too much like work.  So, it’s back to just taking it easy and enjoying these little projects.

I started off making some Crayola crayon ‘toolboxes’.  The holders will carry a total of 24 crayons.  I saw these at a craft show a couple of months ago and thought; I can do that!  The crayon holders were made using old one by and two by fours lying around the garage.  The only thing purchased for the holders was the dowel rod for the handle.  My plans are to paint them and give them away for Christmas along with a nice new pack of crayons, of course…

Mini Chopper Progress

Well, I finally got to the shop to do a little body work! I didn’t start taking pictures until after the etching primer got sprayed.

Mini Chopper Frame with Etching Primer

The above picture is right after being sprayed with Etching Primer. The primer is made by DuPont, but I don’t have the number for it handy.

My Softtail Mini Chopper

Ok, I admit: This is the reason I haven’t done a podcast in the past two days. I will definitely be back on track tommorrow with the show…

I am about ready to tear this thing down and get it ready for paint. Hopefully, I will have the seat pan finshed before end of the week and I’ll get to start working on paint prep this weekend.

Automotive Painting Projects - 1966 Chevy II Nova

Tuesday, April 5th, 2005

I thought that I would create a spot to serve as the home of past projects.

This was my first painting experience. I had a wonderful teacher that took me under his wing and showed me how to properly paint a car.

This is what it looked like originally:
